This is probably one of my favorite cakes that I have ever designed. I was also charged with creating the table-scape and presentation of the cake, which is just another hat that I wear! I just love styling cakes for brides. I believe it makes a huge difference in how the cake appears if you place it in the correct setting, lighting, and a thoughtful linen, etc.
This particular wedding reception was held in a beautiful stable so it seemed fitting to use burlap table linen and lots of very natural branches, curly willow, stones, moss, eskimo roses, and hydrangeas. I had them light the cake with a soft white light. The cake itself was very simply decorated with a sage green white chocolate fondant and a small chocolate beaded border. The tiers of the cake were separated and flowers were placed between each tier and the cake was lifted off the table using an old wooden stump. Very beautiful presentation.
